Welcome to the Town of Eaton Indiana, where its 1,800-plus residents relish their hometown’s close-knit, friendly atmosphere, as well as its proximity to the areas of Muncie, 15 minutes to the south and Hartford City, 15 minutes to the north.
Eaton’s rich history includes the town’s incorporation as a village in 1873 and the first discovery of natural gas in Indiana in 1876. The natural gas discovery set off the Indiana Gas Boom, leading to decades of rapid regional growth and was a catalyst in the glass industry investing heavily in the region including The Ball Corporation.
The Town of Eaton is nestled along the banks of the Mississinewa River and is home to multiple parks, a community library and a supportive community culture.
